My Trip to the San Francisco International Chocolate Salon
Where have I been all these years? There’s an annual Chocolate Salon in San Francisco and I didn’t know about it until this year! Many thanks to my foodie friend Cathy Curtis for telling me, months ago, to save the date…and to my sweet friend Maria Benet for accompanying me to this fantastic event. A very BIG thank you to Catherine and Ellin at Toffee Talk for comping us a couple of admission tickets!
The 6th Annual SF International Chocolate Salon took place yesterday, Sunday, March 4th, at Fort Mason. Maria and I walked around the Herbst Pavillion, tasting chocolate and taking photos…not missing one booth. When we were all chocolate-d out, and thirsty, we ventured into the back of the place where the wine vendors were stationed. We did a little tasting, then we decided we’d better go have a healthy lunch. How fortunate that Greens Restaurant was within walking distance! We didn’t have a reservation, so they sat us at a funky little table that was more like a tree stump than anything. We enjoyed our delicious vegetarian lunch nonetheless…and the beautiful view. Here is a pic that Maria snapped out the Greens window for her MtTam365 blog.

I’m going to remain neutral here, and leave the judging to the judges (they will be announcing the winners on Thursday). Everything we tasted was yummy (except for bacon-flavored chocolate…not my thing!). The above photo above shows the loot that I purchased…you know, to save as hostess gifts. The remaining photos are a sampling of the many beautiful displays by the top chocolatiers who participated.
